Steven G. Hightower I explored the setting of my novel A New Beginning: The Smoke of One Thousand Lodge Fires, as a young man. The caverns were a fascinating place, as were the wall etchings within the cave. The people who lived in that cavern hundreds of years ago left an impression in my soul as a young man. I knew I wanted to tell their story, I did not know it would take fifty years for that story to make its way onto the page. Where did I get the Idea, does not seem the correct question. Perhaps where did the inspiration come from is a better question...
