I think partly it just becomes a habit. Like anything else, if you make yourself do it every day for a while, you just get used to doing it. (I wish I could make myself develop the habit for exercise, lol!) Plus, I really love my characters and wish I could know them in real life, so spending time with them each day is something I look forward to. All writers go through periods where they block and dread writing, I think. I'd encourage you to just set aside a little time each day and put down a few words. The story will start to flow after a while.

Do it. No matter how old you are, how many reasons you have for NOT pursuing it--if you dream of writing, write. And seek out support groups. If it weren't for my involvement in Sisters in Crime, I'm not sure I would ever have risen to the task.
