I just finished up the second book in an apocalyptic series and sent it off to my publisher. Now, I am writing about a white water rafting trip gone bad.

Just keep writing! And also keep honing your craft and learning. Read writing books, take classes, work with other writers and your writing will improve. Never give up!

It is similar to what is the best thing about being a reader. I get to go to different places and meet different people, with the difference being as a writer I get to know the characters on an even deeper level. They are always surprising me.

I am lucky in that I don't normally experience writer's block. I sometimes experience "crappy" writing, but not usually a block. The way I overcome "crappy" writing is to write my way out of it. Meaning that eventually the bad rewriting gives way to better writing.
