I am currently working on a genre-bending novel about a murder in an upper-class family in the 1980s. It is based in New York City. There are vampires/magic/witches/gargoyles in this novel.

This may sound somewhat common, but I am first and foremost inspired by emotion. I am inspired by anything that makes me feel a certain emotion in a way that knocks me off my feet or creates shock inside the pit of my stomach.

The ideas that encapsulated my book were really ideas that originated from memories. I used a mix of fiction and non-fiction in my poetry and short stories. I always knew I wanted to write books--I just never knew my first book would consist of poetry until I fell in love with the genre.
