S.R. Jenkins I take a break. Make a cup of tea and a snack. Put on some music that feels right for the story I am trying to tell and make myself do it. One thing I have learned and am really working on is the fact that it is much easier to rewrite or cut sections that aren't working than it is to get the story on the page. If I can just fight my way through to the next beat, I can hit a stride.

Any words can be rewritten. It doesn't have to be perfect in the first draft despite what your brain may be telling you. Just keep going and keep hydrated.
S.R. Jenkins My daughter being my biggest fan. It doesn't matter what stage a story is in, she points out the things she loves and encourages me to keep going.
S.R. Jenkins Never stop trying to get better. Find a good editor/writing coach and keep writing.
S.R. Jenkins Currently working on a series for The Writer's Wardrobe podcast with fellow authors Judah Lamey and Leumas Llewtnac. I am also working on getting my audio recording set up running again for recording another podcast series I've been working on by myself for a while about a small East Tennessee mountain town and all the strange, terrible things that happen there.
S.R. Jenkins I am inspired by many things but most often music, folk lore, and newspaper headlines.
