M. Marie Walker Thank you for asking, Carol. Absolutely! I anticipate five more books in this series. Each book will focus on one or two the characters of My House. I am about 90% sure the next book in their series will focus on Jason & MyIesha's story.
M. Marie Walker Hmmm, that a good question
I had to think about this one for a minute. I would have to say the MC has something traumatic happen to them in their youth and they repress it.
As they grow into adulthood, they begin to have memory flashes of the past but not enough to put the pieces together. They know it's something horrible and they are scared to find out but they need to know so they go on a quest for the truth only to come face to face with the truth, and they realize it is much worse than they could have ever imagined.
M. Marie Walker I am currently working on book 2 of the My House Series. Whereas book 1 is messy and full of drama, book 2 is more of a love triangle/soulmate trope. don't get me wrong, it still has drama, but now it focuses on the two soulmates finding their way back to one another and the many obstacles it presents. This book also has multipule POV.
M. Marie Walker I usually get inspired by reading other authors' work. It not only inspires me, it also gets me excited about my own work in progress.
M. Marie Walker My advice would be to never quit. How don't care how long it takes, or how frustrating it may be at times, or when you get discouraged. Never. Quit. It took me 20+ years to finally get my first book published. I went through self-doubt, fear, discouragment, frustration, writer's block. You name it, I went through it, but I was determined to make my dream a reality. I was determined not to give up, and I encourage aspiring writers as well, not to give up. Keep going, you will make your dream into reality. If I can do it, so can you!
M. Marie Walker For me, the best thing about being a writer is I get to create magic. I can draw out the stories in my head and bring them to life, and I can do it on my own terms, without judgement, permission, or complaint.
M. Marie Walker God question. I usually take a break, Do things that relax me: take a nature walk, listen to music (usually classical), watch a movie that I've wanted to see, read a book that I've been meaning to read. Usually, for me, writer's block doesn't last too long. but those times when it does, I take a step back and regroup; most of all, I try not to get frustrated.
M. Marie Walker The house was eerily quiet, except for the faint sounds of tormented screams coming from the basement. I recognized the agonized voice as my cousin, as I stumbled down the stairs to the sight of blood splatter across the walls, and my cousins' severed fingers in front of me.
M. Marie Walker Hontestly, I got the idea for My House, Book 1, which is my first published novella, from my sister. I was 17 years old at the time and we were talking about random stuff then all of a sudden she says, "Why don't you write a story about Mike, Marlon, Johnee and Jermaine." (characters that we made up a couple years before. Also, said characters I used in my first ever short stories at age 15) "Make it messy, but real." She said. That whole day, we brain stormed about scenarios, story plots, adding new character, etc. From there, the sotry fell into place, then 20+ years of tweaking, re-writing, and editing, My House was finally published. It's one of the reasons I gave acknlowedgement in my book to my sister. She's not only the one who gave me the idea, she's been my biggest fan from the very beginning.
