I love learning new things and sharing what I've learned. Writing gives me that opportunity. I look forward to sitting at my computer each morning and diving in. It seems I always discover something new when I write, a new and better way to word things, new information to include, a new perspective I hadn't considered before. For me, writing is like going on a treasure hunt, and I can't wait to see what I'll discover next.

Well, I have two ideas.
One is to write a sequel to my current novel, The Art of Traveling Strangers, where art historian Claire gives a new client an art tour of Europe (mostly in France this time) and has a totally different but equally enlightening experience.
The other idea is to write a historical novel with a dual time frame that weaves together the lives of Roman Empress Gala Placidia and Byzantine Empress Theodora.

This is an easy one. It's all the things I've learned and all the people I've met along the way.

I haven't really had to deal with that yet, at least not the kind where you can't write. What I do encounter, though, is sitting at my computer for hours and writing away, or researching away and making absolutely no progress. Instead of stopping to take a break, clear my head, call it a day, I keep at it. I waste a good deal of time this way. Although I'm not staring at a blank page, my nonstop actions are equally nonproductive.

During my career as an art history professor, I spent several summers teaching and tour guiding in Europe and thought I might be able to use my adventures to kickstart a novel. I love stories that teach me something, so I wanted my novel to do the same thing—teach art history through an entertaining story.
