How do you get inspired to write?

Lynn Walker Reading other books that draw me into the story. Talking with other writers. Writers retreats away from my home, family, laundry, cats, dog. . . And always sit down at the computer in the morning with a cup of kick-ass decaf coffee (hey, if I'm not gonna get a buzz from it, it has to at least taste really good) and a few pieces of dark chocolate.

What are you currently working on?

Lynn Walker The true story of my dad's life as a highly successful undercover narcotics agent in Miami and how he ended up on the other side, smuggling drugs into the country.

Where did you get the idea for your most recent book?

Lynn Walker I got my estranged dad to finally talk to me about his infamous life as a Miami undercover narcotics agent-turned-drug smuggler. I had questions that had been burning inside me for a decade. Once I heard his story, I then had a book burning to see the light of day. To my surprise, when he read a draft, he loved it and wanted me to try to publish it!

How do you deal with writer’s block?

Lynn Walker I slide the purring, furry beast off my keyboard!

Seriously, I start typing whatever comes out of my mind until the gears click into place. I was never able to write in one hour blocks; I need at least 3 hour blocks to get the creative juices flowing. Sometimes I shift to doing social media posts, so I'm still creating & discussing writing. Deadlines for a writer's group critique are also very motivating for me
