Where did you get the idea for your most recent book?
Heather Terrell I got the idea for the book I'm currently writing and the book that's about to be released -- BOUNDARY -- from the same place. Research. I'm always pouring through non-fiction books, historical texts and original source material -- because I'm a little crazy that way -- and they always spawn great ideas.

What are you currently working on?
Heather Terrell When I am deep into the writing of a book, I am often reluctant -- almost shy -- about sharing the details of the story. What I can tell you is this. My next novel will certainly explore the themes that form the heart of all my books, including the RELIC and BOUNDARY: the hidden truths imbedded in history, myth and legend and the way societal leaders reshape the past for their own agendas.

What’s your advice for aspiring writers?
Heather Terrell I never actually planned on becoming a writer myself, so I'm probably not the best person to offer advice about how to plot out a writing career. That said, I definitely know what has prompted me to become a writer -- and the best writing advice I've ever received. Become a voracious reader!

What’s the best thing about being a writer?
Heather Terrell The best thing about being a writer is escaping to the worlds and times I've often dreamed about. I adore visiting those worlds -- like the Arctic medieval landscape of BOOKS OF EVA for example. It's the closest thing to time travel that I'll ever experience.

How do you deal with writer’s block?
Heather Terrell When I hit writer's block -- and I often do! -- I usually refer back to the notes I made when outlining the book. By that I mean my character development notes, plot ideas and setting details. This often prompts me for ways through the writer's block . . .

How do you get inspired to write?
Heather Terrell I get most of the inspiration for my work from my own reading -- fiction and non-fiction. I've always been interested in myth, history and legend and that interest fuels my own writing.
