I.M. Mayes Boring answer and I’m sorry, the best thing about being a writer is the writing. Creating a story from scratch and really using your imagination. I had a review on one of my books and although it was voted 5 stars which I appreciated and was thankful for. The review stated “I was potentially on drugs while writing it” first and foremost I wasn’t and I 100% don’t do drugs and barely have a drink very rarely on a special occasion. So I don’t recommend drugs/drink or advocate them at all. I laughed at the review and I did take it as compliment, even the greatest of stories and authors have been accused of this in the past. Let’s be honest it takes a really good imagination to create stories like the fantastic Wizard of Oz, Willy Wonka. I am sure authors have had this kind of thing said to them for years, but like I said it takes a good imagination and I see it as a positive that my imagination to create a new adventure maybe quirky or a bit out there because I think it’s essential for writing creatively. If you have no imagination I guess it would be a little dull I guess. I didn’t take it personally at all, so thank you for a great review 😀🫶👍
I.M. Mayes Have fun and take your time, but also embellish on your first script the 1st manuscript is the bones of a story. Read over it multiple times and get it right but embellish on it to make it more meaty, more fun and add more content. I usually read over it about 4 times with the same routine. But as my other reply states, we can get writers block so don’t force the story. Which in my opinion it is better to come back to it.
I.M. Mayes There are two places that I think would be mind blowing to visit and my answer is probably similar to many others answers. But it would be nice to visit Willy Wonka’s Chocolate Factory, what would I be doing there? I think you can all guess as it would be rude not to try all the sweet treats and inventions and sailing on the chocolate river. I quite like the idea of floating around with that soda too.

The second place would have to be Oz, the strange unique characters and the magical colourful world would be a good place to visit. I would probably pick a sandwich out off the tree and follow the yellow brick road like most, however I would need help returning home as those Ruby slippers are just not for me.🤣 I would not be clicking those heels and saying “there’s no place like home” but again I think it would be a nice place to go and a popular choice.
I.M. Mayes Currently I am working on my third book, the story is nearly there. The book focuses on teaching basic food and drink nutrition, The point was to help younger/adults to understand the principles of healthy eating and why fresh/homecooked food will always be better for us. The characters of the book are fruit and vegetables with human names, they lead very busy lives but get into so much bother. Each character in the book has dreams and aspirations, will they achieve there dreams. The reader will learn the characters special attributes and what makes them different to other fruit and vegetables and how each of them have many different levels of super powers/vitmains and nutrition that help the human body repair and heal. I have some more writing to do and the illustrations I will be starting in a couple of weeks. The story is copyrighted and it has a title which I hope to share in the future.
I.M. Mayes Finding a subject that matters to you helps, but I got inspired with Mr Thinkalot for the reason of those who worry or do not understand it, especially children. Scientists predict that we are close to pushing over the 1.5c warming limit, I felt that children should be more prepared in the event of global warming increasing climate change further and what that may mean for future generations to come, we have some time left to change our ways.
I.M. Mayes Mr Thinkalot was inspired by doc from Back to the Future movies, they may not look a like but they have a similar personality. But in all honesty, being young and not understanding climate change and global warming I’m sure is difficult for many. And it’s a complex issue, and that’s why I wanted to create a series that would do this in a gentle manner. It’s not all doom and gloom, the books are more positive, with an outlook on what we can do or change for a more prosperous and sustainable future on Earth. I wanted to make it fun, I felt a space adventure would be the best way forward. Mr Thinkalot visits other planet's that have been affected through climate change, or are going through the effects of climate change.
I.M. Mayes I have to close down the laptop, when this happens it can be quite frustrating. But what I have realised is that the block is a short term thing and usually just when you least expect it, an idea or the continuation of the story will just pop in you’re mind. So don’t give up.
