I recently interviewed another author who switches genres from his main series as a palette cleanser. Brilliant idea! Although I won't switch genres, I have a smutty little novella series that I will start as my palette cleanser. Not as in-depth, but a naughty bit of fun to see where it goes. I hope to publish my first novella in June.

My pitch for my second book is evolving so I'll take a stab at it here.
Dani Winters, a foul-mouth high school drop out restores classic cars for a living. With her apartment above the garage, her whole life is insulated from reality in one tiny space.
Tomlin Takahashi is a multi-time Olympic gold medalist and Judo World Champion that has his beloved "soup can" car towed to Dani's job for her to restore for the Pebble Beach Car Classic.
Sparks fly when her mouth and his elitist attitude meet. Neither willing to concede, their bickering lands Dani in hot water and Tomlin with a damaged car. They will have to learn to work together to get what they want, but will it tear them apart or have them fall in love?
Enemies to Friends.

It's a testing ground for people, places, and things. When writing, we are free to be whomever in the world we want to be. We get to explore their world, the events that happen to them, how they react, and the emotions they feel.
Writing or reading is an escape from your current reality with an opportunity each and every day to plunge into another world, another person, or another life.
Specifically for me, it's a safe place to channel my emotions when dealing with things going on in my life. It's cathartic in that you can infuse your situation into another life, watch introspective how the characters react and how they resolve the situation or problem. It can provide clues as to how I could have or should resolve it in real life.

Coyote started off as a dream. Literally, the first half of the opening scene was something I dreamt about. When I woke up, the scene lingered with me.
I thought, what would happen if a humanitarian was kidnapped by a cartel kingpin? What if they were former lovers?
Over 100K words, it became my debut novel. I hope you love the story as much as I do.
