Where did you get the idea for your most recent book?

B.B. Nickell I got the idea from Kolahni based on a dream of mine. I used that dream and combined two of my favorite movies: Avatar, the Last Airbender, and the movie Inside Out - but with more adult emotions. Emotions are messy and I wanted a creative space to explore each one.

How do you get inspired to write?

B.B. Nickell My dreams. I have very vivid dreams and sometimes they stay with me until I write them down.

What are you currently working on?

B.B. Nickell I am currently working on Book 2 of the Kolahni series: The Ardents. I'm about 1/4 of the way through.

What’s your advice for aspiring writers?

B.B. Nickell Stop listening to all the advice about writing - just write! You need to do what works best for you. If that means starting with writing down an outline, then start there. If it means writing down all the ideas or conversations in your head, then start there. Just start and keep going. Then find someone to edit.
