I recognize the cause and deal with it. I'm either burnt out and need a break after a major writing binge. In which case, time away from my computer is the best remedy. Or something in the real world (family issues, health issues, pet issues, etc) is taking up all my mind time, leaving no room for imagination. Solve the issue or take a break.

I get to create something from my imagination. The voices start talking and I type what they say. I spin the tale and then share it with others. Basically, my form of crazy has an outlet.

Know your characters. Everyone does everything for a reason unless they are a psychopath and even then there's some sort of motivation. Just because it sounds cool is never a reason to have a character do something. When you know everything there is to know about your characters (whether those details make it into the story or not), you can create a believable character that readers will love.

ON THE DOUBLE (Guardian's Tales 4). It is on deadline and I'm hustling against the last minute to get it written and off to my editor. The rest of July is going to be lots and lots of binge writing and nothing else.

I sit down at my computer, open a document and start typing. I can come up with story ideas at the drop of a hat with little provocation or prompting. It's just a matter of having enough rest, quiet and alone time so I can get the words out.

I actually don't remember where I got the idea for ON THE DOUBLE (Guardian's Tales 4). I usually start with the characters and then toss them into a plot as it comes to me. I knew I wanted a heroine who figures there's something wrong with her because she has never climaxed. I also knew I wanted the cause of her first orgasm to be with two men. After that, I came up with a plot to fit and now it's just a matter of writing it all down.
