Scott Appleton The project taking priority now is Neverqueen2, continuing the tale of Violet and introducing Valor. It's a bit darker than my other fantasy novels but without darkness the light cannot shine so brightly.

Also, for Flaming Pen Press, I am prepping antique books that have been lost to the literary world for re-publication. Starting with a biography on Sir Francis Drake that will appeal to Young Adult and Middle Grade readers.
Scott Appleton Sorry it's taken this long for me to respond but I do want to answer your question: The Sword of the Dragon series has been in-process for about twelve years now. Sometimes it is difficult to figure out exactly what inspired me to write The Sword of the Dragon series because that was such a long while ago. I originally wrote it as an omniscient POV story that ended up over 130,000-words in length. It covered an extensive number of characters, places, and a period of about thirty years from Oganna's birth until the final wrap-up with Stalwart (who you will meet in the later books of the series). I carried my emotions strongly through the manuscript, using my doubts about myself and others, my fears, my hopes, my highest ideals, and my deepest convictions. It truly is the story I always wanted to read because I put all the elements that matter to me into the characters and the story. Technology has been all-but-destroyed because I often feel like it presents so many challenges to leading a quiet, peaceable, reflective life. The consequences to the characters following a wrong path are severe because I wanted it to serve as a reminder to myself and others that ultimately God's favor is the only favor that matters, and his laws reward whereas sin destroys both us and those around us.

I hope this helps clarify what inspired me to write this series!
Scott Appleton Sharing stories that I believe will inspire readers to be better individuals who take pride in standing for conservative values. Getting to do what I love. Writing is the outlet for my creativity and my Christian convictions. You may disagree with me at times but at least you can explore the possibilities.
Scott Appleton Patience, accept professional criticism, and do your research! I read a number of books on writing and publishing before tackling the process and it helped me succeed.
Scott Appleton Neverqueen2 will explore the wild forests west of Turser's Mountains, picking up where book 1 left off.
