Additionally, I work as an educational volunteer with the Alabama Watershed Stewards Program, so your content was near and dear to my heart. Thank you for an inspiring book! Audrey Ingram Hi Cindy, I'm so happy you found The River Runs South. Thank you so much for your work in the watershed program and for recommending my book to your book club. I've been fortunate to attend several book clubs and I've included a sampling of the topics discussed below:
1. What is the significance of the title?
2. What role does the environment play in Camille's healing?
3. What is the importance of the setting? Have you ever visited this area of Alabama and were you aware of it's unique ecosystem?
4. What is your relationship with your hometown?
5. Explore the theme of mothers and daughters. Which character did you relate to? Discuss the difference in how Camille's relationship with her own mother and her daughter impacted her healing process.

Hi Audrey, I see that you are an attorney so the answer to my question is most likely a "yes." Apparently, Alabama allows an attorney to practice law even though they are licesned to practice in another state? I assume Cammile was licensed to practice law in D.C. but not in Alabama? Thanks.
Audrey Ingram Hi Lana, This is an excellent question! In Washington, DC, if you are licensed in any other state, you can waive into the DC bar with a simple application. Because of this waiver process, almost all DC attorneys are licensed in another state. Camille would have taken the Alabama bar exam and then waived into the DC bar, allowing her to practice in both areas.
