I'm so glad you loved JULIET! And what a good idea to read novels in English; it's a wonderful, exciting way of perfecting one's language skills. Right now I'm working on a novel set in Paris partly in present day and partly in the 16th century--I haven't decided on a title yet, but that will come! You should know that I also wrote the book THE LOST SISTERHOOD, which is still widely available, and that many readers think it's even more gripping than JULIET.

The funny thing is that Romeo and Juliet pop up quite frequently both in films and books -- in fact, they have done so since the year 1476. It's just such a great story, and it continues to fascinate us. I would love to write a sequel to JULIET, but I can almost guarantee you that if I don't, someone else will eventually pick up the thread and carry on this ancient story.

I wish I had an easy answer to this, Jenny. The film rights for JULIET have been with Paramount for a while, but right now we are looking for another studio. I am staying optimistic, and I hope you will, too!

It's a great question, Emanuela, and as you can see, I've replied to it below. Trust me, I would love to return to the narrative -- and to Siena! -- and live in that world again, but at present I am working on something else. After all, we authors depend on our publishers to tell us what people want to read, but maybe, with some pressure, they will change their mind :-)

You have no idea how much I would LOVE to write a sequel to JULIET, Palomahc! As the astute reader will have noticed, there are lots of threads in there that can easily be pulled into a new story with surprising twists ... but at the moment I can't promise it will ever happen. Maybe, if the JULIET film is made, there will be renewed interest in the book, but otherwise ...

I'm happy to say I have, Rebecca! I just came back from a research trip to Paris, and I can disclose that the story will be set partly in the present, and partly in the Renaissance. It's too early to give away the mystery and the historical persons involved, but I promise it will be very exciting!

Thank you so much for the kind words, Paul! As you know, some writers are able to get a book out every year, and I admire them for it. The books I write, however, require a lot of research and travel, and they often contain two storylines set in different ages. So, I'm afraid patience is the word, but it cheers me when people feel the books are worth waiting for!

As you know, my latest book, THE LOST SISTERHOOD, was published in March, so I think I can safely say there won't be another coming out until March '16 at the earliest. My books require lots of research, and they usually have two narratives-in-one, so I can't keep up with all those authors who write a book every year. Hopefully my books are worth the wait, though :-)
