I never have writer's block. I have more ideas and creative thoughts than I have time to follow up and write or publish about. I can always fall back on my journalistic building blocks to get started ... Who, What, Where, When, Why and How?

Personally it is engaging in the creative process or journey ... you learn so much about yourself. And professionally or spiritually ... touching people's lives especially if they are able to use your information to educate themselves, improve their circumstance, or achieve some personal milestone or change.

I specialize in non-fiction so first i would say find your target audience and be as specific as you can. What solution can you offer to solve a problem for them or help them live better in some aspect of their life. Don't just think my book is for teachers. What level, what subject, beginners or seasoned professionals? The more you know about your audience the more successful you will be. Second write, write, and write. The more you write the better you get. Third I would say start learning about marketing. Although it is the greatest time in the world to write because you can build your own Internet fan base, you still have to understand core marketing strategies, learn something about social media and develop a plan for promoting and selling your books. Even if you have a publisher they will still expect you to do a majority of the marketing. After 30 years writing and 25 years publishing and with 16 straight #1 Amazon Best-Sellers for clients in 2013, including one for my own Creative Monster eBook, I have plenty more to say but these are three of the big ones.

I always have three or four projects going on at any given time. I am working on Book 2 of my "Crea Brain Monster Series" a follow up to Creative Monster where I will introduce other characters Alex Axon, Celeste Cell, Denzel Dendrite and Nicole Neuron who will explore other operations of the brain and body. For my Western Legend's Series, I am working on Book 2 about European and Asian contributions and how they helped settled the American West. I also am co-authoring a book on the writing, publishing and marketing process which will launch in August 2014.

I am passionate about a number of subjects: creativity, history, business and people. My inspiration comes in many forms. Sometimes it is in response to a problem or question I have. With my "Creative Monster" book it was "Can I really be a creative writer?" since I had gone to college and graduated with a Journalism degree, I was struggling with writing in a different format than a just the facts approach. So I was led to write this book about the brain and the creative process. Other times like with my "Western Legends" book it was about wanting to tell other people's extraordinary stories. These wonderful REAL people who lived and are living life on their own terms because of the choices they made, some under difficult conditions, really inspired me. I felt they were great role models for kids and adults today and their stories made me want to be a better person and make my own choices count. Most of the time, I just want to teach or share information that might be helpful to someone in their business, spiritual or creative life.
