R.J. Archer Although I always have a basic plot in mind when I start a book, I never really know where the story line will take me. I write to experience the journey.
R.J. Archer For me, it's the research. Each of my 7 novels has "taken" me to a different part of the world and I've learned so much about underwater archaeology, ancient civilizations and unexplained (but very real) mysteries through my research. I've also had the opportunity to meet REAL scientists and explorers who are involved in the science behind my fiction.
R.J. Archer Just do it! My first novel (Tractrix) started as a one-month project to fill some empty time in my technical writing job. During that month I wrote 3 chapters and I was hooked! Those 3 chapters didn't start out to be a novel and I certainly didn't expect that that novel would become a series or part of a 7-book double series. But once I started, I was driven to see the story to the end. Now I'm about to start my THIRD series!
R.J. Archer I'm finalizing ideas for my next series, which will be a follow-up to my Seeds of Civilization and Parallel Ops series. Book 8 (the first of the new series) will return to Belize for its primary location.
R.J. Archer It's a logical follow-up to my last book but it will be the first of a new series with (mostly) new characters.
