Alex Grecian Thank you! Yes, there is a sequel to Red Rabbit, and it's coming out in March. It's called Rose of Jericho, and if you liked Red Rabbit I hope you'll preorder it or let your favorite librarian know you want to read it.
Alex Grecian Hi, Megan! Thank you so much! Yes, there is a stand-alone sequel coming out next March, titled ROSE OF JERICHO. Info should be popping up on my website soon. I'm on Bluesky and Facebook, but the best place to find things out is probably my newsletter: https://substack.com/@alexgrecian

Please consider subscribing, and thank you for reading and recommending (and taking the time to reach out)!

Best,
Alex
Alex Grecian While I do hope to release the sixth Murder Squad book at some point, I have no idea when that might happen. I suggest you think about subscribing to my newsletter "A Terrific Friend of Yours" since that's where I'll be most likely to announce it when it happens. https://alexgrecian.substack.com

Thanks for reading and taking the time to write in!
Alex Grecian Hi, Amedeo! I don't know if there's a date yet for the Rose paperback edition, but since the hardcover will be released in March I'm assuming the paperback will come out in late summer at the earliest. Thanks for reading Red Rabbit, and please feel free to talk about it yourself. Books love word of mouth!
Alex Grecian Hi, Deryk. I have not read the Dark Tower series, though I've heard nothing but good things about those books. I'm afraid they weren't an influence in any way, but I appreciate the vibes. Thanks for reading!
Alex Grecian I'm not sure what you're asking, Ryan. Red Rabbit is roughly as long as it was before I revised it, but the epilogue was originally about twice as long. I whittled some characters out of it, characters I decided the reader didn't necessarily care to revisit.
Alex Grecian Thank you, Elly! Yes, there is a sequel to Red Rabbit. It's called Rose of Jericho, and it will be coming out in March of next year. Please preorder or ask your library to reserve it for you. The more early support it gets, the more likely a third book will be. Glad you enjoyed Rabbit. I'm very proud of it.
Alex Grecian Hi, Jeffrey! Ubel Crane is a character in Red Rabbit, and The Call of the Nightfall King is a dream I had one night while writing that book. I'm afraid the only bits of it that exist are what's quoted in Rabbit. Glad you liked it, though!
Alex Grecian Hi, Candace. I'm currently wrapping up my next contemporary novel, but began work on a sixth Murder Squad book a few months ago and will be getting back to it very soon. My working title is HAMMERSMITH, and I have a surprise or two planned for long time readers of the series. Thanks for your patience.
Alex Grecian Rebecca, I'm working on a sequel, called THE MERCHANT OF SKIN AND BONE, which will reveal the tragedy in the Roan family's past. And Travis's brother Judah, who was cut from the final draft of THE SAINT OF WOLVES AND BUTCHERS is going to be a part of it. Thank you for reading!
Alex Grecian Thank you, Kev. It might be a bit of a wait for Dark House (it's planned out, but I haven't written it yet). Meanwhile, I hope you'll try my new book out this month: THE SAINT OF WOLVES AND BUTCHERS. It's not about Walter and Nevil, but it is very slightly connected.
Alex Grecian Honestly, I wouldn't have left things on such an emotional cliffhanger had I known I would be taking a break from that series just then. But I do have plans for a sixth Murder Squad book, which will wrap up those loose ends. (And then I have further plans for Nevil Hammersmith down the road.) Please have patience. I promise I won't leave you hanging forever.
Alex Grecian I always though Daniel Radcliffe would be good as Inspector Day, with maybe Lily James as Claire? And I think Daniel Craig would make a terrific Dr Kingsley. But Nevil Hammersmith would be a little tougher to cast. Tom Hughes might be a good fit. That said, I really love finding out how others see the characters. What do YOU think?
Alex Grecian My favorite book to write was never published. The first book I ever wrote was a dark thriller about identity theft, called Collision. I breezed through it in five months. In retrospect, I think I was having so much fun because I was learning about the craft and finding my voice, but sadly it wasn't very well written. To answer the second part of your question, I think authors are probably the worst judges of our own work. The writer gets something different from the experience than the reader does, so my opinion of my books may not be especially useful. At the moment I'm probably most proud of THE SAINT OF WOLVES AND BUTCHERS. Or maybe THE BLACK COUNTRY. Both were challenging to write.
Alex Grecian My most recent book was different three years ago when you wrote this question, but my most recent book when I'm writing this answer is about people hunting war criminals and I was inspired by much of recent history.
Alex Grecian Bills. (Half kidding.) And I have no other skills. My inspiration comes from a lifelong love of writing and the need to create new stories.
Alex Grecian This answer would have been different when you asked this. But now I'm working on the second book about a pair of modern day hunters of war criminals.
