Jacqueline Sheehan Kim, I wished I looked on here more often!! My most recent book was set in South Portland, which is just one ferry ride from Peaks Island. But I know it's not exactly the same thing. But check it out: The Tiger in the House.
Jacqueline Sheehan My favorite book is always my most recent one. In this case, The Tiger in the House. I loved writing about the powerful connection with sisters. And of course, very good dogs.
Jacqueline Sheehan Hi Kim, Funny you should ask! I have just started a book with my favorite characters from Peaks Island. I can't tell you anymore about it because it is evolving as I write. But if you are in need of books to read, please check out Now & Then, The Center of the World, and The Tiger in the House. They are all available through Amazon and other places (although buying in your favorite Indie bookstores is a bit tougher at this Pandemic moment.) All the best to you, Jacqueline
Jacqueline Sheehan For some reason, I have a backlog of stories in my head. I see stories everywhere. In families (especially mine!), news, small town dramas, music, and most importantly for me, in the world of psychology. The world is an inspiring place.
Jacqueline Sheehan HI Kim,
I don't know how I missed your question, but one year later, here I am. A Dog Like Lloyd is the British version of Lost & Found. I have just started a third book in this series. And I mean, just. I am 7 pages into it! Thanks for your kind words about two of my favorite books. I don't ever want to let go of these characters.

Jacqueline Sheehan Hi Leah,
Yes the journalist is based on a real foreign correspondent from the San Francisco Chronicle. She is alive and well, living part-time in Antigua, Guatemala.
Jacqueline Sheehan These are the books I've read so far. The summer list is a work in progress.
Exit West, Mohsin Hamid. Totally mind blowing.
Kinship of Clover, Ellen Meeropol.
The Widow of Wall Street, Randy Susan Myers.
Lone Wolf, Jodi Picoult
Big Little Lies, Liane Moriarty
Jacqueline Sheehan I seriously question if there is such a thing as writer's block. I can be stumped by a plot line, unsure about a character's motivation, or simply in need of doing more research. And life events move writing aside. The death of a dear friend, followed by the death of my brother left me no room to write for about six months. But then you go on. And you keep writing.
Jacqueline Sheehan Am I doing too much? It does feel that way at times, but then writing is what I love to do. I am most at home while writing, filtering the world through my stories. I will admit, social media has added to the job description.
Jacqueline Sheehan My mother lived for nearly a year in a rural cottage without running water or electricity after leaving my father. She had one toddler and was pregnant when she arrived there. I want to know why she left my father (they later reconciled) and what he did that finally convinced her to return. She also went through the hurricane of 1938 (epic) in that cottage. They are both gone, along with anyone else who might know the answer.

Jacqueline Sheehan Hi Liz,
Thank you for your delightful words about Kate and Sofia. I had originally written a few more chapters at the end, imagining Sofia and all about 3 or 4 years down the road, but I decided to stop short of this. At the moment there are no plans for sequel, but I am finishing my next book, called Tiger in the House.
Cheers,
Jacqueline
Jacqueline Sheehan Right this very minute? I'm reading mysteries by Louise Penny, a Canadian writer. If you like a smart mystery with good character development, try this author.
Jacqueline Sheehan My last book, Picture This, featured Rocky, Cooper, and many of the same characters on Peaks Island, Maine. I love those characters and couldn't resist returning to them. The book that is coming out next, The Center of the World, will take you to a completely different location. But the themes of human connection continue. Jacqueline Sheehan Everything, absolutely everything. I have endless stories going on in my head, and now that I am a full time writer, I don't have to keep filing them away.
Jacqueline Sheehan I started traveling to Guatemala in 2006, learning about contemporary Mayans. And I am intrigued by the power of a mother/daughter relationship whether the mother is biological or by adoption.
Jacqueline Sheehan Sometimes I think the best advice is to read widely. It is baffling to me when an aspiring writer tells me that they don't really read.
Jacqueline Sheehan Right now I am working on the final edits to my next book, The Center of the World, which comes out in January 2016 with Kensington.
