My mother's family could be a book all on its own, but that's not my story to tell :)

Getting feedback from readers! I have been fortunate enough to receive a lot of positive praise and have been told my book has been more than just a page-turner, but it has helped them through their spiritual and even grief journey.

Just start. If you have an idea, write it down and buy a lot of notebooks: you'll need them. I kept notes in multiple notebooks, google docs, word docs and texted myself notes on a constant basis. Stay organized and combine all your notes nightly into one preferred space.
Tell your story! There ARE people out there that need to hear it, no matter how insignificant you might think it is.

My memoir started as an idea to share my story with my kids and nothing more. I just wanted them to know that I am more than just their boring mom. My mom's life was always full of secrets and my grandmother died before I ever got to know her history: turns out, we were a lot alike. Eventually it turned into a repeated message from God to use my experiences for more than just my children, but to help anyone who might need to hear that they're not alone in this walk. The Lord hammered it into my heart by showing me the same verses and message over and over until I finally spoke aloud and said "Lord, I hear you". Then I had this idea to add in more stories than just my own. Since then I worked on my story in-between the life of being a mother, wife, full-time student and working part-time. After 2 years and 2 months, I finally published.

New book ideas! Children's books are in the works but as of right now, they are still rough outlines. My six year old daughter and four year old son have been helping come up with some pretty awesome ideas on how to turn specific bible passages into stories of explanation for children.

Step away for a bit and say a prayer. I don't rush myself to complete works in progress because I believe as long as I put effort in consistently, it will be finished when it needs to be. All in God's time.
