Last time I played Candy Crush and watched pet videos on YouTube until it went away. The time before that I abandoned the scene to write one that occurred later in the story. When I returned the block was gone. Basically, I deal with writer's block by removing myself from the troubled scene to do something else and it doesn't have to be writing-related.

I wrote a short story about a young woman who lives in a time where clones are grown for spare body parts. The nightmare begins when her clone becomes obsessed with fulfilling its purpose. My current series-in-progress, Avant Nation, spun off of that idea, going a little deeper into the future when clone technology has advanced even more, to become a story that explores what might happen if the government controlled the gene pool.
