I don't think I did. I just listened and recorded, then shaped and edited later. But every chapter was a huge surprise to me. I am not a planner! Much more fun that way. I would never have deliberately gone the places I went in my latest book, Perception!

A few from a list that promised "psychic protagonists," including The Rowan and Carolina Moon, but also The Housemaid, Bookshops & Bonedust, The Phoenix Crown, The Briar Club, Belles, Novel Problems, and Horse. That is, if I ever finish Ken Follet's Fall of Giants, which is so detailed and amazing but hard to read because of its echoes in today's politics.
