For me, it's creating dynamic worlds and characters that make those worlds a better place... even if it takes them a while to get there. It relieves a lot of my stress and it's a bit exhilarating.

One night my husband, step-son, and I were creating a bunch of crazy “what if” scenarios and we would build on them. Ordinary started with the question: “What if a boy lived in a world where everyone had a superpower but him and the only job he could get was delivering flowers by bicycle?” It made us laugh, but it was probably another six years before I realized that there was actually a book hiding in there. Obviously, a lot has changed between that first question and the final book, but the basic question remains the same: what if you were the only person without a superpower in a world full of supers?

I'm powering through Unique, the sequel to Ordinary (due out March 2020). The goal is to have it ready to publish about three months after Ordinary is released. I'm ahead of that schedule so far!

Everything offers inspiration, from news articles that tick me off to something in nature that makes my imagination run wild. The world is my inspiration.

Honestly, I power through it. I have a sort of guide for the book with major plot points. When I get stuck, I just force myself through the next chapter. Sometimes the chapter turns out great. Sometimes I end up cutting it out. But writer's block can be crippling if you don't push past it.

Write! There are always excuses to not write, but if you don't complete your book it will never get published. Some days are harder than others, for sure, but if you set a schedule and stick to it you will see results.
