Susan Gable Write the book! Just get it done. Also, learn the craft. Make you know about POV, and Show vs Tell, and all that stuff. You can break the rules - but you should know that you're breaking them.

Hang out with other writers. Pick their brains. Learn as much as you can about all the different aspects of writing. There are companies and people out there who prey on the dreams of writers. So do your homework before you get involved with anyone who wants to publish your book, or market your book, etc.
Susan Gable The best thing about being a writer? Just one thing? (I don't think I can do just one.) I'd say getting to learn new things all the time. Also, all the wonderful people you meet, both online and in-person. Oh, and BOOKS! :-)
