The part I like the most is when I finally finish a rough draft of a book, and I print it out for the first time. It's a great feeling of accomplishment. I also love when my editor sends me the author's copies of the completed book---it's better than Christmas!

THE LANGUAGE OF LOVE AND LOSS is a standalone sequel to my first novel, LEAVE MYSELF BEHIND. I always intended to write a sequel to tie off some obnoxious loose ends I left dangling in LMB, but it took me twenty years to get around to it because I kept getting distracted by other bright and shiny things. Better late than never, I guess...

I just posted a couple of blogs here on Goodreads about this, if you're interested. The bottom line: Read a lot, write a lot, sit your butt down in a chair every day and write at least a few lines. I wish I had something more inspiring to tell you, but that's all I've got. May your fire burn bright.

Hi. Basically, I just sit in a chair and stare stubbornly at the screen until the words start flowing again. Sometimes it takes weeks, but since I really have no social life to speak of, what else am I going to do with my time?

Hey, thanks for asking. Another novel is currently with my editor, waiting to see what he has to say. In the meantime, I'm working on a new book about a blind gay folk singer in Vermont, his partner, and a runaway teen needing a place to hide from his family.
