Hi Lisa. Thanks for your question. I try to keep locations deliberately vague in my books, unless specifics are needed for the plot. My aim is that (especially with psychological thrillers) readers can relate to the characters, situations and locations — this makes them a whole lot scarier. I didn't have a particular location in mind for TELL ME I'M WRONG, but in my head it was a fairly rural location, probably somewhere in the Home Counties region of England, although it could feasibly be anywhere.

Absolutely. Why not?

Hi Chris. Thanks for your kind words! One of the best things I find about speaking to police officers for research is the little things that come out. Learning about police procedure is all well and good, but as you rightly say it's quite often the finer details that make a story more rounded. I'm glad you appreciate them!

Hi Chris. Thanks for your question. I don't read reviews, but I can see where you're coming from. The Knight & Culverhouse series aren't murder mystery books, but follow a major crime team. Inevitably, not all major crimes are murders, of course, even though all of the first five books focused mainly on murders. I'm glad you enjoyed the slight change in this book, though. Yes, lots more planned, so I hope you continue to enjoy the rest just as much!

The Mystery of the Missing Hair. I don't think it'd sell, though.

Hi Steve. Sorry for the late response — I was at the hospital for almost a week, as my wife has just given birth to our first child. I'd be delighted to speak at the school. Please email me through my website and we can discuss.

Hi Lorraine. Thanks for your kind words. I use Scrivener for writing, as it works really well with my way of planning and writing books, and lets me organise scenes, chapters and research very effectively. Hope this helps!

Hi Sharron. I have replied to a couple of your similar Facebook messages this morning which said the same thing — that should cover everything :-) Good luck with the book club!

I had an idea for a setting and plot quite a while back and I jotted it down in a notebook as I do with all ideas I get. It wasn't quite germinating into anything, but when I combined it with an interesting motive I'd also jotted down a while back the rest of the plot and characters fell into place. The final book (out early 2015) doesn't really resemble the original idea at all except for the setting, but it just goes to show that even a weak idea, when left to develop, can grow into something much bigger and better.
