Afraid my life is pretty dull. I can't thnk of anything.

Over the years there have been "failed" anthos, that is, ideas that I couldn't sell. Those include an sf/horror antho Jonathan Strahan and I wanted to co-edit with the title Fearful Symmetries. He kindly let me use the title for my
recent unthemed horror anthology.
Pat Cadigan & I tried to sell Dangerous Women in the 80s (it was to be about strong women in their many aspects) but had no luck. Gardner Dozois & George R. R. Martin just had an antho come out with that title. Sometimes it's a question of timing.
Terri Windling & I've been trying to sell a follow up to our Victorian fantasy antho, Queen' Victoria's Book of Spells. It would be a fantasy antho about the 1920s but so far, no one's bitten
I've wanted to edit a doll horror antho for ages but I needed the perfect title, which with the help of a friend, that idea became the forthcoming: The Doll Collection.
I always have ideas. Sometimes they fly, sometimes they don't.

Have you considered doing an anthology themed around cults (or cult like rituals)?

Checking galleys for The Cutting Room and Nightmare Carnival, new anthos out this year. And reading for The Best horror of the Year volume 7.

Hi David. I'm glad you got your book & hope you like it. I'd love to edit another but the reason I went through KS for Fearful Symmetries is that un-themed ones are hard to sell to publishers. This is because unfortunately, even though some readers ask for them, relatively few buy them compared to how many themed anthos they buy.

People kind of know what to expect with them. I also enjoy the themed ones because I think it's interesting to see what different authors come up with under the same themes. Even with the restriction the stories are always so varied and interesting. You are one of my favorite anthology editors. You seem to have a knack for choosing the best stories to exemplify the themes of the book.
