Don't give up on your dream, and understand that not everyone will like your work, or your story, or your protagonist. The list goes on and on. Don't let that get you down or influence your writing. If it's right to you, that's what matters.

Being able to create and imagine as I wish. My story can take place now, or hundreds of years from now. It may happen in the US, another country, or a combination of both. I have the freedom to create a world where there is always justice, or where there is never justice. It is entirely up to me.

I try to stay in my author mode and read works from others that I admire. Oftentimes I'll read or reread Steven James' book, Story Trumps Structure. I know that no matter what I do, the storyline will eventually come to me, even if it takes days.
