How do you deal with writer’s block?

Nancy Segovia I don't know. I haven't really dealt with that. Well, I wasn't when I was first asked this question, but I am dealing with it now. What I do is just give myself time. I had this crazy deadline I set for myself for my newest fantasy novel, and I started getting stumped. I would get to a place in the plot and not know what to say next. So, I threw my deadline out the window and just started thinking about what I wanted to say, how I wanted to say it, and what I wanted to happen next. I use Evernote on all my tablets and phones, and jot down ideas as they come to me, and then sync them to my computer. Then, I print them all out and review them. That usually ends the writers' block, well...until the next time.

What’s the best thing about being a writer?

Nancy Segovia The opportunity to express yourself without anyone interpreting your words other than what you mean. You can tell the world how you really feel and see it without anyone telling you it's wrong or incorrect. You can create your own happy endings and nobody can change them ever.

What’s your advice for aspiring writers?

Nancy Segovia Read, write, read, write and keep doing it until you get it right. It is like playing the piano or running a marathon. The more you do it, the better you get.
