Thanks so much, Christoph! Glad you like Pete's (mis)adventures. I do have plans to continue in the noir space. My next crime novel, SECRET IDENTITY, arrives from Flatiron Books early next year. It's a murder mystery set in 1975 New York, and follows a woman who moves from Miami to NYC to work in comics. She's barred from writing at her new job, so she ghostwrites a new comic book with a colleague. But when her collaborator is murdered, she has to investigate the crime to reclaim her idea, and to achieve her destiny. Hope you give it a shot!

Hi Gwen! Great question. Pete's a blend of a lot of people I knew growing up in high school and college. I really wanted to write a series that showcased a Cuban-American PI who'd lived some of the same experiences as me and my friends, so I took a lot from people I knew -whether personality traits, personal details, or the like.
In terms of other books, there are a ton. My holy trinity of PI fiction are the George Pelecanos Nick Stefanos novels, Dennis Lehane's Pat and Angie books and Laura Lippman's fantastic Tess Monaghan series. In addition, I love how Lawrence Block handles addiction in the Matt Scudder novels (not to mention that the entire series is fantastic), how Elmore Leonard's South Florida novels touch on the weird and deadly and classics like Raymond Chandler, Ross Macdonald, Jim Thompson and Charles Willeford.
