I took care of it! Welcome inside the perimeter.

I would rescue Robert Jordan in 'For Whom the Bell Tolls.'

It's difficult to pick, as I have a number of characters who have relationships going, and some of those are queued for publishing or would be major spoilers to discuss. I would probably choose Jon and Mary Anthony, because, of the people in my universe, they are the least burdened, and settled, and very happy. There they'll remain.

I plan very deliberately and plot using a fixed methodology. Characters are developed and understood before writing begins. One must know where one starts, where one is, and where one's destination lies, or the journey is not that but a wandering. Who has time for that?

I sit at a keyboard as the first to see new worlds come into being. From good, to better, to the best I and my people can produce, I watch my work become a title that will outlast us all. From there, it goes to my audience. Once absorbed, my novel and my reader afterward go forward together, and that is a very special connection.

Write if you must and because you love the process, or stay well away from the outlay of time, treasure and trouble it will consume. Be prepared for a very long road.

My current work-in-progress is Novel10/Sean4, "The Yemeni Package."

Writing is a craft, a mission, and a privilege. Without the support of
readers, no author's voice could make itself heard. Their reactions and encouragement keep me going.

"Operation Naji" was inspired by a snippet of dialogue in my debut novel, "The Anvil of the Craftsman."
The boy nodded. “My father—he was a secret soldier as
well?”
“He was a friend.” Kameldorn drove back up the
embankment.
“He must have been a warrior with you.”
“He was a finder of paths, much as you are. Your father
gave his life to save the lives of others, men he did not really
even know, and he did it with great bravery. Your father was a
strong man, Gabir, but more importantly he was a good man.
His family should remember that most of all.”
“We remember. I was only a child, but I remember. We
will not forget.”
“That is as it should be. Show me the way to where I need
to go, as he did.”
Solemnly nodding, Gabir pointed to a trail that snaked off
across the desert from the established road. “Begin there.
Watch for the rocks.”
They set off cross-country on a route only a boy like Gabir
would know. Kameldorn spent the time thinking about a man
he had been missing since 1994.
