It's a great way to explain away your crazy and if you play it right it can get you out of day to day chores, "Baby, do you remember when you said you would support my writing career? Yes? Okay, well today I'm doing research on a character that doesn't want to do dishes and laundry, so..."

I go out and about, get inspired by people. I watch and listen, (not in a creepy stalker way but in a cool undercover spy kind of way, that is when my trench coat isn't at the dry cleaners.) No, people and their actions, their conversations are inspiring to me.
I also have an amazing friend that is a great sounding board and helps me work through scenes or the direction I should be going, when her eyes light up I know I got something.
