R.J. Harlick Never give up. Writing is not easy. You will face many challenges from just putting the words down on the page to trying to convince a publisher to publish it. But eventually through hard work and persistence you will break through that barrier and reap the rewards.
R.J. Harlick Creating Meg's world. I love creating this imaginary life for Meg and watching her grow from book to book as she faces new challenges.
R.J. Harlick I am busily working on the seventh as yet untitled Meg Harris mystery. This book is a departure from the previous ones. Rather than becoming involved in the solving of a murder, Meg finds herself in a threatening situation, which requires her to summon all her strength and wits to survive.

It is the week before Christmas and Meg is alone with her young friend, Ajidamo, readying her century old house for the big event. A blizzard is raging outside. A knock suddenly rings out through the house. Meg discovers two strange men at her front door. Initially she is reluctant to let them in, but when she see blood on the verandah floor, realizes one of them is hurt. As she gingerly opens the door, the power goes out and they are plunged into darkness.....
R.J. Harlick I just keep writing, even if it is only a few hundred words at a time. Eventually a crack opens and the words start flowing again.
R.J. Harlick I love the great Canadian outdoors and wanted to bring it alive in my Meg Harris series. So when I start thinking about the next book, I am invariably sitting in the screened-in porch of my log cabin looking out on the surrounding wilderness. Soon the muse starts talking to me.
R.J. Harlick I'd always want to visit Haida Gwaii, the mystical islands of the Haida. So when it came time to write the next Meg Harris mystery, I along with Meg traveled to these distant islands off the coast of British Columbia and fell in love with the place. And thus Silver Totem of Shame was born.
