Hi, Bob. Thanks for your query and I apologize for the slow response as I've been dealing with some family health issues and have been out of pocket for the last four weeks. No, I haven't done a book on Geronimo. You've read all that are in print as of now, though I am working on one on Custer's Last Stand. It should be out next year as I return the first three Lomax to print through Wild Horse Press. The Demise of Billy the Kid has just returned to print and I've been doing page proofs on Redemption, which should be out later this year. Best to you and I will respond quicker to future requests.

For me, it is more discipline than inspiration. I am a disciplined person and enjoy creating and telling stories, especially when they are loosely based on historical events.

The best things are being able to meet other people, including a lot of other writers, and to enjoy the experiences that otherwise would not have been open to me had I not been a writer.

I started my career in newspaper journalism. The pressure of deadlines and being expected to produce on a daily basis instilled the necessary discipline to avoid "writer's block." That doesn't mean that every day is great writing day, as some days are better and some days are more productive, but that's just life.

Persistence is more important than talent, as that will come with practice. Have a curiosity about or thirst for knowledge so that you are always learning.

I enjoy reading 19th Century history so I've always been fascinated by the American Civil War. The Battle of Franklin has always intrigued me since taking a course on Civil War History. As it is one of the more obscure battles of the Civil War, I was especially drawn to it because of its dramatic elements and tragedy. I researched it for two decades before deciding I was ready to write it. "Too Much the Lion" is modeled after the classic Civil War Novel "The Killer Angels" by Michael Shaara. Both books culminate with disastrous frontal charges by Confederate troops against entrenched Union lines. The assault at Franklin covered twice the distance with almost twice as many soldiers involved in the more famous Pickett's Charge at Gettysburg..

I am working on a historical novel on the Civil War Battle of Franklin. Titled "Too Much the Lion," it is scheduled for a May publication. The novel follows a dozen historical figures involved in the five days leading up to the tragic battle and its aftermath, much in the style of the classic Civil War novel "The Killer Angels" by Michael Shaara.
