Yes, but I don't have a release date yet. I suffered some...personal upheaval...in 2016 and 2017 that affected my professional life, and I had to put THK on the back burner for a while. But the first draft is written, and I'm committed to finishing the process so you can read it sometime in the (hopefully) not-too-distant future. :)

Thanks! I'm so glad you enjoyed the Alienated trilogy. I doubt I'll write another series about aliens, but I never say never... :)

Hi Reyhan,
I'm so glad to hear that you're writing a book; it can be such a rewarding experience! Don't worry about feeling like an amateur. That's normal, especially if this is your first time writing a novel. Alienated was my first book, and it was a mess when I finished the draft. Honestly, the next couple of drafts were messy, too. But I loved Aelyx and Cara so much that I kept on rewriting their story (*five* total rewrites!) until I finally ended up with a version that worked. So don't quit! Every page that you write, even if you delete it later, is a learning experience.
Best of luck with your book! :)

Hi Rachel,
**UPDATE** United is now available in paperback, exclusively on Amazon. Go forth and complete your softcover collection. :)

I've been getting this question A LOT lately, so I'm glad you brought it up on my "ask the author" page. Now I can update everyone at the same time. :)
This particular book is unique because my deal with the publisher was for hardcover only, so in order to offer a paperback edition, I would have to publish it myself using print-on-demand technology, which would make UNITED slightly more expensive than my other paperbacks. (About $3 more) Right now I'm investigating my options and making sure I can match the first two paperbacks in terms of size, appearance, and quality before I commit to anything. If I do this, I want to do it right and give my readers a beautiful product that blends seamlessly with the rest of the trilogy! But so far the outlook is good. My goal is to offer a paperback edition this summer...so fingers crossed! I'll let readers know as soon as I have more infomation. Thanks for the great question!

Knowing Cara, she probably intended to cram during summer break, after the pressure of senior year was over. Had she realized she would leave Earth before Christmas, I'm sure she would've been more prepared. (Speaking of Christmas, did you read "Until Midnight"? It's a free short story that takes place right after Alienated ends and before Invaded begins. If you don't have access to Kindle/Nook/iBooks/etc, you can read it on Scribd or Wattpad.) Hope you enjoy Invaded and United!
Melissa Landers
Two. Starflight is Doran & Solara's story, and Starfall focuses on Cassia & Kane. :)
Melissa Landers
Newton Compton, an Italian publisher, has bought the translation rights to Invaded but not United (yet). If you want to read United, make sure you contact Newton Compton and tell them! :)
Melissa Landers
That's a good question. UNITED is available in *all* Kindle markets (every single country) because I insisted on retaining my digital rights, which means I get to decide where the ebook is sold. But Hyperion holds the digital rights to ALIENATED and INVADED, which means they decide where those ebooks are sold. And for reasons I don't fully understand, they haven't made my ebooks available outside the US/Canada. So basically, the first two books won't be in your Kindle store. But I'm glad you were able to read UNITED without having to order a physical copy and wait for it to ship overseas! :)
Melissa Landers
Nope, the trilogy is complete. But I'm offering a deleted love scene from United. :) Here are the deets: http://melissa-landers.com/2016/08/de...

Hi, Charlotte. I don't know whether UNITED will release in paperback. As of now, hardcover and ebook are the only formats we have planned. If that changes, I'll edit this response. :)
Melissa Landers
I'm so glad you loved Starflight! And yes, those questions are answered in the second book, though briefly because the focus is on Cassia and Kane. :)
Melissa Landers
Thanks! I was a huge Firefly fan, but the inspiration for Starflight actually came from an old romantic comedy called "Overboard" with Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell. (If you haven't seen it, you should!)
Melissa Landers
Thanks, I'm so glad you loved Starflight! The answer to your question is yes...kind of. In the second book, Starfall, Cassia and Kane are the main characters, so everything is shown through their points of view. Doran and Solara are still in the story, but they take on a supporting role, kind of like Cassia and Kane did in the first book. :)
Melissa Landers
I'm so glad you enjoyed Starflight, and I hope you love Cassia and Kane's book even more! (Psst: If you like humorous, light sci-fi, you should try my Alienated trilogy, too.)
To answer your question, I've always been drawn to science fiction, probably because it was a huge part of my childhood. I grew up during the Star Wars craze and played with those toys constantly. (I still have my original Millennium Falcon and my golden C-3PO carrying case full of action figures). Plus, my whole family was addicted to Star Trek.
Children learn what they live, right? Maybe if I had spent more time watching "Murder She Wrote," I'd be the author of several cozy mysteries instead. :)

Hi, Pallavi! It's not a frivolous question at all. I get loads of emails from readers outside the US/CAN asking why my books aren't available in their Kindle stores. Unfortunately, unless a publisher in your country buys the subrights from Disney-Hyperion, the ebook will never be available there, and a print book is your only option. I find this very frustrating and wish it could be different, but it's beyond my control. :( Book Depository ships to most countries for free. Maybe check if yours is one of them?

It's hard to say because I add new events to my schedule all the time. I suggest you subscribe to my e-newsletter here: http://eepurl.com/NIJGT as that's the best way to stay up to date on where I'm touring.

Unless the series really explodes and hits every bestseller list known to man, UNITED will be the last book. :) But don't worry; it ties up beautifully at the end, if I do say so myself.
Melissa Landers
There's a contact form on my website, as well as a FAQ page where I may have already answered some of your questions. :)
Melissa Landers
Yes, the cover for UNITED will have the same "divided" theme as the first two Alienated books. It's gorgeous, and I hope to reveal it soon!
Melissa Landers
That's an interesting question. I'm writing the third book, (link: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/2...), as a conclusion to the trilogy, meaning all plot lines will be neatly tied up at the end. But if UNITED does *really* well, I guess I'd be open to continuing the series. There are an infinite number of adventures for Aelyx and Cara to experience. :)
