Hi Mr. Jeffries. I am reading your book Hidden History...and wow! I've questioned the deaths of the Kennedy Srs. and MLK but the chapter about JFK Jr. was shocking. I was 24 years old and ignorant of so much about the history of this country. Did you receive death threats while writing this book? What was your inspiration? Who is your fave writer?
Donald Jeffries Hi Quan. I appreciate hearing this. Yes, I was the first to really delve deeply into the death of JFK, Jr. No, never received any death threats. My inspiration for looking down the JFK assassination rabbit hole was JFK himself- who my Catholic family idolized. My favorite writers include Dickens, Orwell, Charles Fort, and Ambrose Bierce. Who is your favorite fictional couple, and why?
Donald Jeffries I don't read much romance, so I'd have to go with the odd, doomed relationship between Winston Smith and Julia in "1984" and the love that survived even the world's most famous vampire- Jonathan Harker and Mina Murray in "Dracula."

How do you deal with writer’s block?
Donald Jeffries I don't really get it much, but if I do, I just re-read something I've written that hasn't been published yet, and that invariably leads to re-writing.

What’s the best thing about being a writer?
Donald Jeffries The freedom to create worlds, with characters, motivations and plots that originate in your mind. The ability to enlighten and move readers.

What’s your advice for aspiring writers?
Donald Jeffries It's cliche, but keep writing. Don't give up. You never know when the right person will read your work.

What are you currently working on?
Donald Jeffries Finishing up a book about bullying and the social hierarchy in schools. Working on a sequel to "The Unreals."

How do you get inspired to write?
Donald Jeffries I've been writing since I was a child. I am inspired by lots of things. For fiction, I am influenced by eccentric and unusual people I encounter. For nonfiction, the particular issue must be important to me.

Where did you get the idea for your most recent book?
Donald Jeffries I started down this road back in the mid-1970s, when I began investigating the assassination of President Kennedy. From there, I gradually started looking at all political and historical events more skeptically. It was inevitable that I'd eventually write this kind of book.
