I served in the USAF, from 1990-1994 as a law enforcement specialist with the Security Police. In high school, I had taken 4 years of JROTC with the intention of going to college then becoming a career officer in the Army. But, I dropped out of college, bummed around for a few years then enlisted in the USAF. I like to write military characters as they are either misrepresented or under represented in fiction so often.
