Ms. McLemore: I recently read Wild Beauty. I am a college librarian in Mississippi. As a result of reading your book, I ordered all three of your novels for the library and have recommended them to others as well. Specifically, I have recommended Wild Beauty book to the English Department. I am seriously impressed with this book. Can you tell me a little about your academic background? Thank you so much.
Anna-Marie McLemore Hi Judy! Thank you so much for reading Wild Beauty, and for recommending! It's much appreciated. In terms of my academic background, I have always loved stories and books, though growing up I was more of a math and science geek. Later, I was fortunate enough to get a scholarship to a college that encouraged me studying both science and literature, so that got me used to the idea that I could be interested in both; there's usually at least one scientific element in my magical realism. Thanks for your question, and thank you again for recommending my books!

Hello! I just finished Wild Beauty and WOW. I was not expecting all the magic, all the women power, and beauty of this book. It really took a part of me with it! I'll be sure to recommend it, because it needs to be read! Not really a question I guess ?

Have you written poetry before? Your book "When the Moon was Ours," has numerous beautiful verses! That I have experienced through reading poetry verses. Wonderful book!!!!! Your an amazing writer!!

The Andrea Gibson lines at the beginning of the book were a small way to add in a little of my love for poetry. :)

Anna-Marie McLemore Hi Britt! Thank you so much! I'm so glad you enjoyed reading! Though I don't have specific plans to revisit the Palomas and the Corbeaus, I imagine their world will pull me back at some point. In the meantime, I'm working on my second book, which has new characters but some of the same themes--magical realism, the meeting of different cultures, and secrets that refuse to stay hidden. I'll be sharing the title, release date, and more very soon!
