Lara Zuberi A lot of things: A scenic landscape, a riveting book, a moving story, a timeless poem, an innocent child, a gregarious laugh, an unintentional tear.
Lara Zuberi I have just begun, literally just a page in, my third novel, The Ruined Canvas.
The idea came to me while working on a painting. It seemed in line with The Lost Pearl and Torn Pages, and I had thought for years that one of my protagonists will be an artist.

I am also working on my collection of Urdu Poetry, ' Kiran' (Ray--implying Ray of Hope)
Lara Zuberi Be a prolific reader. Master the language. Pick up your pen. Write without fear. Complete the task, even if it takes a decade. There is nothing sadder than an unwritten book.
Write. Rewrite. Be open to criticism.
(This answer is similar to Saman's answer in Torn Pages during her interview)
Lara Zuberi In my mind, it is the ultimate form of creativity, where an entire world can be created inside the small thickness of pages of a book. It is a beautiful coming together of ideas, and their transcription on paper. A good book can transform a person, it can save a person. Also, writing is ultimate freedom. I feel like writing has given me wings.
Lara Zuberi Fortunately, my job as an oncologist, and as a mother of an energetic eleven-year-old keeps me very busy. Therefore, my struggle is more the other way: So much to write, and not enough time to write it. Of course there are some days that words flow better than others. When I realize that its one of those days, I go back to editing mode and re-read and correct what I have previously penned.
Lara Zuberi Contemporary:
The Great Alone by Kristin Hannah
Where the Crawdads sing by Delia Owens

Classic: The Idiot by Fyodor Dostoevsky

Urdu: Kitaabein Jhaankthi Hain by Nasima Zuberi (my aunt)

Book I recently loved: The Girl with the Louding Voice by Abi Dare--brilliant
