A lot of things: A scenic landscape, a riveting book, a moving story, a timeless poem, an innocent child, a gregarious laugh, an unintentional tear.

I have just begun, literally just a page in, my third novel, The Ruined Canvas.
The idea came to me while working on a painting. It seemed in line with The Lost Pearl and Torn Pages, and I had thought for years that one of my protagonists will be an artist.
I am also working on my collection of Urdu Poetry, ' Kiran' (Ray--implying Ray of Hope)

In my mind, it is the ultimate form of creativity, where an entire world can be created inside the small thickness of pages of a book. It is a beautiful coming together of ideas, and their transcription on paper. A good book can transform a person, it can save a person. Also, writing is ultimate freedom. I feel like writing has given me wings.

Fortunately, my job as an oncologist, and as a mother of an energetic eleven-year-old keeps me very busy. Therefore, my struggle is more the other way: So much to write, and not enough time to write it. Of course there are some days that words flow better than others. When I realize that its one of those days, I go back to editing mode and re-read and correct what I have previously penned.
