After talking about writing children's stories, my latest book is not a children's story. I have had a most uniquely interesting new experience that I needed to write about. A long-lost brother in England that I never heard of before found his missing family, and it was my family! This book, Lost Family: FOUND! is about the events of being discovered, getting to know a brother we never heard of, sharing our lives, meeting each other, and discovering many other family secrets too impossible to imagine. This is a powerful, heart-warming story, and we hope it will encourage others with lost families. This book is co-authored with my long-lost new brother, Anthony Leonard.

I can't write unless inspired to. Inspiration comes after the idea pops into my head, niggles there for quite awhile, then after lots of thinking about what I want to say, wondering if anyone else would like to know the story and deciding yes, they would, and then putting the words down and developing the story line. I guess this is inspiration, but it seems just a natural flow. I love words, I love the English language, and I enjoy writing. Reading has always been a love of mine. I know kids today have many option of activities to fill their time, video games, hundreds of TV channels, Netflix, etc, but there is nothing like holding a book in your hands and feeling connected to the characters.

I have several "irons in the fire" at the moment. I love writing children's stories. I have one book in production, one submitted, accepted and ready to start production, two other stories written, but not submitted. And I have another unwritten story swirling in my head. I am currently trying to promote my most recent book, also,(not a children's book: Lost Family: FOUND!) as well as my first two children's books.

Pick a topic or a subject you feel passionate about, something you can't get off of your mind. Write down your thoughts, add to the topic as ideas pop into your head. Ask around and decide if your topic is something others would like to know more about. Make an outline of the "story", and let your imagination carry through the rest.

Goodness! I just don't know. Some moments I feel driven to write, other moments I can't believe I ever wrote anything. The best part is feeling the book in my hand and sometimes it is still an unreal feeling. Also, I enjoy connecting with the writing community. Met lots of nice people (mostly online).

I just ignore writer's block. I stop writing until I feel inspired again. (The moments seem to strike late at night after a wakeful period of thinking.) When I think about the book so much, I can't sleep, I just get up and write what I've been thinking about.
