Sorry, Simon. I know this is very late in the day, as I didn't get any notification of your question and I only tend to visit Goodreads in my capacity as a reviewer or to check books. I can't recall what happened or if your book made it into the group. I know quite a few bloggers who review books, but many of them belong to Rosie's group and that's my usual advice to authors. (I know some authors try Facebook groups but lately they have become more complicated). Organising a giveaway or giving your book for free for a few days sometimes helps, but I am sure by now you have tried all those options. Do check Rifflebooks and Booklikes. There are a lot of reviewers there as well.
Good luck and sorry.

They kept telling me I was imagining things. Unfortunately, they were wrong.

Thanks, Simon. I missed your previous question (Goodreads notifications only seem to reach me from time to time, as most of the reviews I share here I post in Booklikes that I have connected to this account).
I read some political thrillers (at the moment I'm revising the translation to English of a series of political thrillers written by a Spanish author) although is not one of the genres I read very often.
It seems that a lot of writers publish their books in the run-up to Christmas and between now and the end of the year I'm fully booked for reviews and features and I'm unable to take any new books on until after the holidays.
All the best.

If I had to choose from one of my books, I would like to visit the cupcake shop in 'I Love Your Cupcakes' (Literally Cupcakes or Literary Cupcakes, depends on which one of the girls you ask), as I like the friendly atmosphere of the place, the community spirit, the variety of activities, and of course, the cakes!
I love thrillers and horror stories, but in general, I would not like to visit where they take place, although I would love to visit the March house from Little Women, as this has always been one of my favorite books, and one of the reasons why I wanted to become a writer.
Thanks for the question. It was fun to answer it!

I'm not sure there are a lot of mysteries that would work as a plot for a book (I worked as a psychiatrist and I experienced my share of strange events and fascinating characters, but I cannot talk about those in detail) but there are fascinating family mysteries, as two of my mother's uncles escaped Spain during the Civil War and went to France where they fought for the French Resistance.
I do write mysteries where the main character is a female psychiatrist (Escaping Psychiatry series), but they are my own invention (more or less!)

This one is a bit of a weird one. I dreamed part of the story, and I remembered it next day. For a while I wasn't sure if it was going to be a story on its own right or part of the series, but eventually it became a part of the Escaping Psychiatry series. I wrote the story I had dreamt (with more details, of course) last summer and then I wasn't sure how to move it on. I worked on a few other projects and then the prequel to the series came to my head. And after writing that (available free, by the way) the next of the story became much clearer.

Sometimes it might be something in the news, something I see, a snippet of a conversation I hear, something I read, or just an idea that pops up in my head. I also have a number of unfinished projects that I want to go back to and review, in case there's a gem hiding somewhere.

I'm working (almost ready to send to the editor) on the next novel in my suspense/thriller series 'Escaping Psychiatry'. I have ideas for another story in the series, although I've been wondering about perhaps writing another novel to see what happens with the protagonists of 'I Love Your Cupcakes'. I'm also collecting material for a non-fiction project.

Read and write, a lot. I'm terrible at marketing so I won't give any advice on that, but if you have a story you want to tell, do. No matter what anybody else thinks. There's plenty of people out there who also love writing. You're not alone. In my case I've also found a lot of support in the blogging community, and it can be a good way of experimenting on your writing without worrying about the technical part of publishing.

I've always loved to write and create my own stories. It's true that sometimes we write to tell the stories we'd like to read, but in many occasions my stories start with a scene or an idea, a 'what if' and writing it is a way to know what happens next. I've been lucky to connect with many writers in recent times and it's always a joy to discover new books. And of course, it's magical when readers talk about your book as if it meant something to them.

I'm not sure I've ever suffered from writer's block in the past. Going for a walk or reading always help. I translated my own books and those of other writers, so I normally have other writing to get on with if a particular story does not flow.
