Jennifer Moorman Thank you so much for your interest in my Mystic Water Series. Those specific books are no longer available, but there is always the possibility that more books will return or be added to the series. For now I'm happy to share that The Charmed Library, my upcoming magical realism novel, will be out January 2026! Thank you again for your kindness and your support!
Jennifer Moorman Thank you for this wonderful question! The simple answer is YES! Thank you for reading my books. I'm thrilled you enjoyed them!
Jennifer Moorman Thank you for this great questions! In the Mystic Water Series, they're all standalone novels or short stories. The Baker's Man is book 1. The Necessity of Lavender Tea is book 2 (previously titled Little Blackbird book 2). A Slice of Courage Quiche is book 3 (previously titled Honeysuckle Hollow book 3). Average April is a short story in the series. There are possible plans to revise and relaunch some of the original series, but nothing is definite. Thank you for your interest!
Jennifer Moorman Thank you for reading my books, Phyllis! It's serendipitous that you're asking about The Legend of James Grey. This was one of the original books I wrote, and I loved the storyline. I can't tell you too much, but this story idea is now receiving a major makeover and revision, new title, new characters, and brand-new life. Thank you for your question!
Jennifer Moorman She’s definitely not me! But I’d like to think we’d be great friends and that perhaps I share some of her characteristics. I didn’t draw from any one person to create Anna. All of my characters are inspired by real life people or genuine personality traits in people I’ve met, but I use only pieces of people, not whole parts. I’ve found that everyone I meet has interesting or inspiring traits, and any of those pieces can create dynamic, believable characters.
Jennifer Moorman I had just finished rereading Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein, and I thought about how drastically a life could change, for better or worse, by creating a man. I’m a self-taught baker, so adding a magical twist, I wondered what would happen if a baker made a man out of dough, and the recipe for The Baker’s Man came to life.
Jennifer Moorman I'd want to travel to the world of Harry Potter, but since I'm a Muggle, I wouldn't be able to see Hogwarts or most of the special places or creatures. So, I'd like to add to my wish that I could see the world just as magical people do.

I'd tour Hogsmeade (buy lots of chocolate and ice cream). I'd take a stroll down Diagon Alley and pop into all of the shops. Then I'd like a full tour of Hogwarts and take a ride on a moving staircase or two. Seeing the moving portraits would be loads of fun!
Jennifer Moorman I love seeing the stories in my head come to life on paper. My characters bounce around a lot in my thoughts, and after a while, I think of them as friends (or enemies) and people I really know. So giving them a permanent home where they can live for many, many years makes me happy. Plus, I love sharing their stories with others.
Jennifer Moorman This summer I hope to read A Handmaid's Tale by Margaret Atwood, (finish reading) The Pull of the Moon by Elizabeth Berg, and Astrophysics for People in a Hurry by Neil Degrasse Tyson. I imagine I'll have a few other sprinkled in as well, but these are on the top of my list.
Jennifer Moorman The idea for my work-in-progress short story came to me because of my longer length novel that will be published later this year. My main female character needs a best friend, and when I started thinking about who her best friend is and how she ties into the story, a short story began to form in my head. I guess that means that one of my stories gave me the idea for another story. I enjoy tying all of my characters together, even from my previously published works.
Jennifer Moorman I find inspiration anywhere and everywhere. I am inspired by the people I meet, the ones who've been in my life for years, and the people I hope to meet in the future.

Music inspires me and creates pictures in my mind. Entire sections of stories will unfold in my mind.

Reading is one of the best inspirations for me. When I read a great book, I want to sit down and write too. Creative people supercharge me, and I love learning from them because everyone has something special and unique to offer.

Sometimes I find inspiration (even sad happenings) from the real-life stories I've experienced.
Jennifer Moorman I'm currently working on a short story that is based in the whimsical Southern town I created called Mystic Water. Four of my novels and one short story are placed in this town, and I love working with these characters and introducing new ones. It should be published in April, and I'm excited to see how it fits in with the previous stories.
Jennifer Moorman I have a young adult fantasy novel (www.wickenstaffs.com) that I co-created with an amazing illustrator and friend. It will be published in October (2015). As for the books in Mystic Water, my next novel will be published late spring/early summer 2016.
Jennifer Moorman I don't suffer from writer's block very often, but sometimes I do feel uninspired. However, even when I don't feel like writing, I still write. I sit down and type one word after another (even if they're complete garbage). I find it's better to write no matter how I feel, rather than waiting on inspiration to strike.

But when I'm feeling particularly out of sorts, I normally talk to a friend about why I'm feeling stuck and what part of the story I'm having difficulty with. Normally, by the end of the chat, I have found my direction again. I also find that reading a good book helps a lot.
Jennifer Moorman Write every day. If you say you're a writer, then you must write. The more you practice your craft, the more you will learn and grow, and your writing will mature. You should also read, read, read, and read more (a variety of genres). You can learn about the craft by reading the material of professional, published writers.
