Brit Ward Creating universes, worlds, and places which are populated by people you dreamed up. It's exciting and pretty fun, to boot. The act of creation is pure bliss and knowing that these fictional worlds have the chance to communicate with someone out there is positively exhilarating.
Brit Ward I write character ideas down. Basically, I come up with a name and then an odd trait or some odd thought as to where this person might come from and I go from there. It doesn't always help me get back on track for the story I'm currently working on, but it keeps my mind working and gives me future material for other stories.
Brit Ward Write. You hear it all the time, but it's seriously the best advice I can give. Write. Write some more. And then keep writing after that. It's the only thing that will ever make you better. It seems obvious, but it's true. Just write.
