Yes - I find that the deep stillness that can allow writers to answer important questions is available to me now in a way that it hasn't always been. I've also returned to my practice of writing drafts by longhand to slow things down, whether its fiction or nonfiction, though depending on the work, I have varying levels of success.

I published A Beautiful Darkness on Amazon's former CreateSpace platform, which I think is now probably just Kindle. So you can purchase a print or Kindle Copy but these are the only two formats where you can find it as a self-published title: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01LXQQLV7/...

Reading other writers who are phenomenally talented and committed, learning from them how to best disappear into fictional worlds when the nonfiction "real" world gets...weird.

This is a toss up - I would love to go to the Florida town where Their Eyes Were Watching God is based and hang out with Janie. I'd also love to go to the fictional town of Ohio in Toni Morrison's Sula just to basically see the wagon that Eva Peace is perched on.

I read a lot of books this summer, some for reviews or interviews, but I decided to add a few that I hadn't gotten to. These include a re-read of Sula, The Nickel Boys (which I loved), David W. Blight's biography of Frederick Douglass (kind of a heavy one, so I'm making my way through it slowly) and For Black Girls Like Me by Mariama Lockington. I also really loved Sarah M. Broom's The Yellow House.
