Craig Stone Hi Mias,

Durr is a bit of a silly name really. It's a word that describes the noise that escapes the mouth of people when they are thinking of an answer they already know they don't have, but are too afraid to admit to.

The real world always forms the shape of my novels, I feel that to pack a punch, the concrete and the cement have to feel real. A lot of the characters are like people in my life, either consciously or subconsciously. I looked after my Dad while he was dying of cancer, and wrote Bob soon after - and I think that might be where some of the darkness comes from. The scene with the man and the piano - although not intentionally - when I read back my words, it's hard not to say that (in only a physical sense) the man resembled my father in his weakened state.

As for the other characters, I believe I made them up entirely - from small conversations here and there, from eye contact held and smiles. From what I feel the truth is in the hearts of people :)
