I can honestly say I've never had writer's block. Sometimes I've needed to stop writing for a little bit, but that's usually because I'm fatigued and I know I just need to let my mind and body rest so I can come back at it fresh. I have the opposite problem from writer's block, actually. I have all these ideas and worlds, and scenes blossoming in my head, but I don't have the time to write! I work long hours at a physically, mentally, and emotional exhausting job. It's hard to scrape together time to write, particularly time to write when my brain isn't mush!

There is this absolute high when I'm writing something and I'm suddenly IN the world where my characters live. It feels so real, like I've worked some sort of magic!
But even better is when you read a review and you are astounded by how much depth you've conveyed to your reader, how you've connected with an absolute stranger thousands of miles away. That's even more powerful magic!

Don't ask me for advice! LOL. Seriously, I'm working on it myself :) How about... let yourself dream. I reality check myself all the time, tell myself not to get my hopes up because I won't really land an agent, get a big publishing deal, etc. But while its good to be realistic at times, it can also drag you down. Why did you start writing in the first place? Because it was fun? Because it made you happy? Because the thought of a random stranger liking what you created made you giddy? Don't squelch that! Let it carry you along :)

I've been submitting a novel that I describe as a gender-bender fantasy romance, with sirens, Greek gods, and a rock band.
I'm currently writing a novel that is a romance with an alien love interest and a magic system based on chi.

Inspiration can happen any time. Sometimes its when I'm just relaxing, taking a walk, sitting by the water, or enjoying nature. Music can also be very inspiring. Other times, its when I'm struggling with some unpleasant emotion.. I just have to write to get past it. Then again, there isn't always a magic "inspiration," sometimes it's just a matter of sitting down and writing, like it's your job. Then once you get started you feel the inspiration coming on as you warm up.

I quite often have a dream that sparks the idea. Sometimes just a glimpse of something, a scene, and sometimes it's like a movie that plays out while I sleep. My most recently finished and submitted book is based on a dream I had. Will you judge me if I say it was probably inspired by reading too many yaoi manga?
