S.R. Hughes OKAY so this was asked a long time ago but...
For this summer, the summer of plagued 2020, my reading list contains:

1. The City We Became, by N. K. Jemisin
2. Mexican Gothic, by Silvia Moreno-Garcia
3. The Only Good Indians, by Stephen Graham Jones
4. The Last Supper Before Ragnorak, by Cassandra Khaw
5. Down the River Unto the Sea, by Walter Moseley

I have a couple other books I picked up for the summer but if I'm being realistic, I probably won't actually get around to them... My reading rate has crashed this year. But it's picking up again!
S.R. Hughes Everything was fine. Nothing ever changed.
S.R. Hughes I'd like to believe we're currently living in one of William Gibson's stubs, a la The Peripheral, because it implies the existence of other, less horrifying stubs. If I could go to any fictional world, I'd go to one that implies the existence of other less awful ones. And then, in all likelihood, I'd live about as close a life as possible to the one I'm currently living, but with the comforting and unsettling knowledge that some other version of me is living some other version of my life in some other different stub.
S.R. Hughes Run! Run while you still can!
S.R. Hughes The book I'm working on most seriously, at the moment, was inspired by a series of vivid and very disturbing nightmares that I wrote down in the late Autumn and early Winter of 2013-2014.
S.R. Hughes Everything. Journalism inspires me, non-fiction inspires me, music inspires me, film, television, genre writers, plays, everything everything everything is a part of the inspirational collage. Sometimes just a photoset on Tumblr or a few minutes perusing DeviantArt can lead somewhere. Sometimes observing the world around me causes eruptions of thought, a driving story that I can scrawl down.

On more lethargic days, coffee and creepy music suffice to motivate me.
S.R. Hughes I have 1st, 2nd, and 3rd drafts of three or four different projects that I'm still not satisfied with. Every once in a while, I'll just tear one of them apart and rebuild it, again, seeking that moment of blissful perfection that is forever ahead of me. I'd tell you more, but after another couple drafts, anything I say here could turn out to be false, and you would feel let down and betrayed.
S.R. Hughes I would say something like "telling stories," or "crafting a deep, involved world," or even, "exploring the depth of my characters," but as fun as that all is...they aren't as good as "going to bed at 4:00 AM on a Tuesday because you can."
S.R. Hughes I'm sorry, I'm afraid I don't know what you're talking about.
