Esther Spurrill Jones If I understand your question, which I am not sure I do: no, fan fiction is not any kind of step back in anything. Fan fiction has a long history. John Milton's Paradise Lost is fan fiction of the Bible. Marvel's Thor is fan fiction of Norse myths. BBC's Sherlock is fan fiction of Doyle's novels. Fan fiction that is created from a copyrighted material is under Fair Use as long as no one tries to make money from it, and I definitely don't try to make money from it.

How do you get inspired to write?

Esther Spurrill Jones So many things in life inspire ideas for stories. Movies, songs, books, friends, family. I have no shortage of ideas. I will never write most of them. I wish I could quit my day job and just write all the time.

If you could travel to any fictional book world, where would you go and what would you do there?

Esther Spurrill Jones I want to say Hogwarts, but I would have to be magical then so I could attend classes and learn spells. Being a muggle would just be like my real life.
