I just finished publishing my third book. I'm giving myself a little time off to see what I want to write next. I'm toying with the idea of a Christmas type story but I need to insure I leave Rape, Murder and Violence out of it.

Advice... I don't think I'm in a place yet to give advice, I'm new at this game too. However, what I am learning along the way is to write from the heart. If what you put in words doesn't sound or feel right to you then start again and again until you feel you got it right.

Being able to do just that - to write. But please don't misunderstand my answer. Being a woman - black woman I value the gift of knowing how to simply write and the kicker being able to put what is in my head on paper. The past few years, since 9-11 I find myself valuing the rights and freedoms afforded to me which I have probably taken for granted since my birth. Writing is my voice. With each story I write I hope my voice is heard.

Don't force the writing. If my hand is in the mood but my mind - not I pick myself up and do something else. But a great trigger for me is music, music and more music. Adele, Ray Charles, Dinah Washington Elvis even, the right song at the right time will get me going
